Isn't the Internet

a wonderful thing?

Interesting Links

This page contains links to some of my favorite marine-related sites on the Internet.

Liveaboard Magazine

This 25 year-old magazine is dedicated to the liveaboard lifestyle.  Log on, subscribe, and let them know I sent you.  I'm working on a free subscription, here!  ;-)

Latitudes and Attitudes Magazine

One of the few rags that I read from cover to cover.  Bob Bitchin is the editor of a magazine that brings home the cruising dream.  Subscribe if you need motivation for living aboard a boat!  Keep checking the 2003 editions because I have an article appearing in one of them!  Bob hasn't told me in which issue he'll publish my article because he doesn't want me to let my subscription expire!

Liveaboard Magazine

Ok...I know that there's another "Liveabard Magazine" listed at the top of this list.  This is a different, on-line version edited by different people.

Intellicast

So you want to know what the weather is doing?  Where the best place to sail is?  This is the site for you!

The Liveaboard Association of Puget Sound

These guys are fighting for their rights to liveaboard!  They're fighting environmentalists, the State of Washington, and Microsoft executives who wish to end a 100-year tradition.  Visit their site and help out if you can!

Defender Industries

West Marine is fine, but they charge WAY too much!  Defender has been around since Columbus crossed the great pond, and they're in bed with a LOT of manufacturers.  If you have a boat, you MUST get their catalog!

Prime Climb Mast Systems

I don't endorse many products, but this one is a must-have for sailboaters.  With Prime-Climb, you can climb the top of your mast without installing permanent steps.

Debbie and Ians' Homepage

Debbie and Ian are good friends of mine.  They're both English, though neither was born there.  They are full-time cruising liveaboards and have spent the last two years as my neighbors.

Pete and Kerrys' Homepage

Both friends of mine.  They did well in the dot com boom in California (remember those days?) and cashed out before it all tanked.  Bought a boat in Jacksonville, moved aboard, and sail around from time to time.

Docking Simulator

Hey, a LOT of people made fun of me as I was learning to dock Candide in her slip.  Well, if you think that you can do better, I urge you to try this Web site.  It's a Java applet that simulates the docking experience.  Have fun!

Bottom Job

This guy draws comics about boating.  There's a new cartoon posted every week.  Pretty funny stuff!

7Knots

If your sailboat is cruising at 7 knots, you should be in hog heaven!  This site is dedicated to folks who are 1) looking for a sailboat to cruise on or 2) have a sailboat but looking for crew.  It's a match-making service for the cruising community.  And, yes, you can search by sex!

Capt'n Sterling's Everglades Tour

If you're going to be in the South Florida area, you've gotta take a tour with Capt'n Sterling!  You'll see alligators, snakes, mangroves, etc.  All up close and personal!

Take Her Sailing!

This is the homepage of Trish Lambert, who has cruised extensively for years (including aboard a Hans Christian!).  She writes a bimonthly newsletter to which you can subscribe.  She also has helpful eBooklets for sale about the cruising lifestyle.
